 Meet the Opal team

Kori Borneman

Co-Founder | Aesthetic Injector | MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I’m the Co-Founder of Opal Aesthetics and mother to baby Max and dog Rutledge. I am so thrilled to be bringing the premium Opal Aesthetics services to the people of Johns Island, Kiawah, and Charleston.

I’ve been a nurse practitioner for five years, and made the decision to move into the aesthetics industry early in 2022 . For the last two years, I’ve been dedicated to the world of aesthetics with countless trainings, conferences, and even attended a cadaver course to increase my knowledge of anatomy and safety.

In my opinion, the name of the game is prevention. I practice this with my lifestyle through a healthy diet, regular exercise, and a dedication to medical-grade skincare. My favorite regimen to tell my patients: get an SPF, Vitamin C and Retinoid treatment that you love and use them every day! As for aesthetics, I believe ‘tox and collagen stimulators, like Sculptura and Radiesse, are my favorite to keep that rested, youthful look.

If you haven’t tried SkinPen with PRP, I can’t say enough about how it game changes your complexion. And if you need a quick confidence boost, there’s nothing like a good lip treatment.

I focus on natural results by assessing the face as a whole and not just treating one area. Global facial treatments is how we obtain the more natural result we all want!

Audrey C. Moran

Co-Founder | Chief Operating Officer

I am the Co-Founder and COO of Opal Aesthetics. I began my career in marketing/sales, investor relations and private risk management. Although my business experience with aesthetics began in 2021, my passion for the industry has spanned over a decade, beginning with my very first job out of college at a skincare startup company.

I believe that the advancements in aesthetics allow people the ability to enhance their aging experience instead of being hindered by it. I love the education piece. I am always talking to my friends and family about all the exciting technology and innovations we now have at our fingertips.

In terms of skincare, SkinPen is my favorite resurfacing treatment. Microneedling with this little device improves skin tone and texture, and turns back the hands of time. Especially here in Charleston, reversing that sun damage is so important. The cherry on top is that it won’t break the bank! My two must-have products are the AlphaRet Clearing Serum by Skinbetter and sunbetter Tone Smart SPF 75 Sunscreen Lotion. I love it because of the consistency and how it automatically adapts to your specific skin tone. It’s basically your tinted foundation plus SPF.

When we got the opportunity to open Opal, I wanted the brand to reflect our values as well as the beauty of the Lowcountry. I also knew it would have to be a best-in-industry experience, and I am confident that it is. Book today to learn for yourself what sets Opal apart from the competition!

Sarah Roe

Aesthetic Injector | MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I began my career as a nurse practitioner in aesthetics nearly five years ago after graduating with a master’s degree in nursing from UofSC. Prior to this transition, I worked primarily as a nurse in the Neonatal ICU.

When it comes to my philosophy of aesthetics, it all comes down to confidence. It’s hard to feel bad when you are literally glowing! Healing acne scars and hyperpigmentation, softening fine lines and wrinkles–this is what my job is all about. You don’t need filler to look amazing, but I do love it because of its near-instant gratification, low social downtime, and because I get to use my artistic eye for facial balancing.

One of the unsung heroes of aesthetic services is microneedling with PRP. You can reliably increase collagen production in your skin with low downtime and next to zero discomfort.

As for skincare, my #1 recommendation is a pigment inhibitor and redness reducer. I love skinbetter's Even Tone Correcting Serum paired with an antioxidant serum. A close second is a chemical exfoliant like skinbetter's AlphaRet Overnight Cream. Speeding cellular turnover is how we keep our skin looking fresh- sweep off the old dead skin cells and allow new young cells to surface at a faster pace.

I love to build authentic relationships with patients, working with them over months and years to reach their aesthetic goals. However, the most important thing to me is that they continue to look like themselves and love how they look! I’d love to do the same with you.

Lauren Lewis

Aesthetic Injector | MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I am so thrilled to be with the Opal Aesthetics team after extensive experience for the last four years in Charleston with neuromodulators, dermal fillers, microneedling, lasers, and peels.

My favorite injectables are neuromodulators (aka ‘tox). When I look at photos of myself from five years ago, I look 10 years younger today than I did then! It’s all due to softening the strong facial muscles that contribute to wrinkles, combined with good skincare. I also recommend microneedling once a year to keep skin tight and glowing.

As for my favorite skincare, I have two: 1) Elta MD tinted sunscreen - I wear this instead of foundation daily. I didn’t start wearing sunscreen until I was 30 and my skin looks better now than it did years ago; 2) ZO Growth Factor Eye Serum. I have hereditary thin, crepey skin under my eyes and have seen such a difference in its texture with the use of this serum in combination with Botox.

I have had some patients for almost five years because I listen to their desires and strive to keep them looking and feeling their best. Book with me today and experience the confidence they feel.

Carly Jefferis

Aesthetic Injector | BSN, RN, ZO Skincare Expert

I'm thrilled to be part of the Opal Aesthetics team of injectors, bringing nearly 6 years of nursing experience including over 2 years in the Charleston aesthetics industry. My in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and experience working as a NICU nurse gives me a precise, gentle touch when it comes to ‘tox injecting!

Continued education and training are a huge part of my aesthetic career. I believe in staying up-to-date on the latest techniques, tools, and practices to provide the best experience for my patients, and I’m always eager to share this knowledge with clients! I’m so passionate about the combination of products and methods for both preventative and corrective change and have seen firsthand how aesthetic treatments paired with at home skincare delivers powerful results!

My favorite treatment at Opal is neurotoxin (aka ‘tox). I love how versatile it is and the difference you can see with both long and short-term use is incredible.  It’s a treatment that can help with the entire face and neck, and you can likely tox more muscles than you think! I love to sit down and educate clients on the different areas of the face to treat to help them achieve the results they’re after. Trust and open communication are key to me with all of my patients!

I’m a ZO Skin Health Expert and certified skincare enthusiast. For my own routine, I love ZO Brightalive to treat my melasma. It's constantly in my bag and regimen, day and night, to help keep my pigment under control in the blazing Charleston heat! I'm also a huge fan of skinbetter's A-Team Duo. Both the Alto Vitamin C and the AlphaRet retinol have completely transformed my skin. It's a terrific way to get started with both and see how your skin changes day by day.

My patients book with me time and time again because of results and a relationship based around education, honesty, and trust. Book a ‘tox, resurfacing, or SkinSense consultation with me today to get started on the best skin of your life!

Taylor Bolin

Patient Concierge Coordinator

I am thrilled to be part of the Opal team!

I have nearly three years of industry experience, specializing in all aspects of skincare in various settings such as a day spa, med spa, and a facial plastic surgery office.

My passion for skincare originated from personal struggles with unhealthy skin during my youth, which led me to discover transformative products and services that ultimately restored my confidence. Witnessing the positive evolution of my own skin fueled my desire to help others achieve similar results.

One of my favorite treatments at Opal is the Opal Signature Facial because it allows clients to relax while revitalizing their skin. I firmly believe that the SkinBetter Tone Smart Sunscreen and SkinBetter Alto Advanced Serum are essentials for anti-aging, making them the best duo for daily skincare.

I firmly believe in the Opal motto of “overjoyed, not overdone” and believe less is more when it comes to aesthetics and skincare!
